- Occupational Therapy Driver Assessment, which includes a clinical assessment and an on road trial
- Prescription of vehicle modifications, such as; left foot accelerator and hand control pedals.
- Return To Drive programs following an injury or medical condition
- Prescription of motorised devices, such as; powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters
- Liaising with relevant parties including medical practitioners, the Department of Transport, insurance companies, NDIS local area coordinators and worker’s compensation case managers in the return to drive process

WHAT IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO AN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY DRIVER ASSESSMENT?
- A completed referral form
- A medical report from your doctor stating your medical condition, indicating your medical clearance to drive, and the need for an Occupational Therapy driving assessment;
- An eyesight report from an optometrist or ophthalmologist may also be required;
WHAT IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO AN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY DRIVER ASSESSMENT?

- An eyesight report from an optometrist or ophthalmologist may also be required;
CLINICAL ASSESSMENT:
This involves an interview and functional assessment which may include:
- Your medical background;
- Your driving history;
- Your vision;
- Your physical abilities;
- Decision making and judgement skills relating to driving; and
- General, practical knowledge of road law.
ON-ROAD TRIAL:
- The assessment takes place in a dual-controlled vehicle with a qualified driving instructor and the driver trained Occupational Therapist. This may be in an automatic or manual vehicle, depending upon what you are used to driving or what your medical condition requires.
- The on-road assessment takes approximately one hour.
- If vehicle modifications are required (e.g. steering aid, left foot accelerator, hand controls), the equipment is fitted to the assessment vehicle and trialled.

- A conditional license with some restrictions may be issued by the licensing centre
- License will be suspended or cancelled if the person is found unable to drive safely with the existing medical condition.
- Information of alternative transport support will be provided to people who are considered not fit to drive.
